Hey Steve,
Would doing a system restore to a point before the install of AVG help?
Assuming it's not been two or three years since you installed it, of
course!
I have the same unit and OS at home. I've not uninstalled much if
anything but the one thing I know I did try to uninstall wouldn't. It was
Dell's own support device, which I was turning off anyway. They stopped
using it, recommended it be uninstalled. It won't. They tried to help me
(no cost since it was their stuff and their recommendation). No luck. I
just still work around it (stop the process tree everytime I reboot which
isn't often) like I did before.
I wouldn't want to do that for an AV program, though.
FWIW, I used to think AVG was an awfully good free AV program. Did it let
a virus through? If not, why change? (Yes, I know just because you
didn't get one doesn't mean it's even working. But it does inform you as
to whether or not it has found stuff. Or at least the old V6.0 did.)
